Change the World

Can one person change the world?
Could it be you?

There is a global online event coming June 1st-10th that is designed to raise consciousness and you can participate in it.

It is free.

It is the Hay House World Summit 2013.

There will be over 100 interviews with experts in the self-help field.  There will be practical advice and inspiration to grow and change...you... and in turn that affects the world.  There will be 10 audio teachings a day. Teachers like Louise Hay, Dr. Wayne Dyer, Suze Orman, Cheryl Richardson and many others will share wisdom and life changing, practical advice.

My motto is "Spreading happiness, making a difference, changing the world, one person at a time."
I will be listening, learning and devoting myself to helping others find the way to their own happiness.

Happiness is a choice.

Happiness happens when we take action in our life to play, laugh, feel gratitude, help someone, embrace new experiences and live fully.

Everyone has the same 24 hours to live each day.
No one has more or less time because of status, money or brains.
We choose how to spend those hours, minutes and seconds each day.
Take some time during the Hay House World Summit 2013 and learn something to become a better person.
Take notes, think about how you can make a difference and change the world.

Make a list of 3 things you can do to change your life once the summit is over.

I have included the link for you to sign up or just google it.
Share the event details with friends and family.

Change the world!

Oklahoma Tornado

Monster tornado.
Devastation.
Lives ended.
Homes destroyed.
Fear.
Sadness.

How do we keep going, again?
What can we do to erase the heart-wrenching images from our minds?
How can we help?

Many relief organizations, are setting up shelters, soliciting donations and suggest giving blood.
Red Cross
Salvation Army
United Way
Feeding America
Operation USA
Oklahoma Baptist Diaster Relief

You can google for specific information if your heart is willing and it is affordable.

Volunteers will be coming to help.  They will cook food, look through debris, patch a window or soothe a broken heart.  Some are repaying a kindness that was shown to them and some just can't stand by and do nothing.

Being on the front line is necessary but what can others do?

Organize a fundraiser.
Gather supplies.
Start a book drive.
Host a special prayer service.

When the disaster, chaos and crisis recedes from the front page news and top story of the the hour on TV stations, Oklahoma will still need our help.

We can be spiritual care providers.
We can send strength and hope in these difficult times.

Oklahoma will never be the same.
Over time there will be a "new normal".
We cannot control nature or the devastation but we can control our response.

Every day we take many things for granted...electricity, running water, police or medical services, grocery stores, food and water just to name a few.  Now many in Oklahoma are without these basic life necessities.
We can count our blessings, say thank you, be grateful,
and stop whining about not so important details.

Oklahoma affects all of us.
We must reach out and help however we can.
Be strong Oklahoma.

"In helping others, we shall help ourselves, for whatever mood we give out completes the circle and comes back to us." -Flora Edwards

Mindfulness

Time flies whether or not you are having fun.
-Abraham Lincoln

Do you feel like time is flying by?

Maybe it is because you are having fun!
But maybe it means you are filling your days with busyness and not living mindfully.

When we live a mindful life we are more likely to do the right things, make thoughtful decisions and feel good.
Being mindful reduces stress and improves well being.
We become more patient, more compassionate, and more thoughtful.
It makes us healthier and happier.

So how can we live mindfully so we can live a healthy and happy life?

What is mindfulness?
Mindfulness is a mental state.
It is being in the present moment and accepting that moment for what it is,
not looking back or forward-NOW!

You can be mindful while eating to savor the deliciousness,
or while walking, listening to your heartbeat.

Use mindfulness when you wake in the morning.  Start by just slowly turning your mouth up into a smile.  Notice how your lips feel.  Does the smile change your eyes, your cheeks, ears?  This is an amazing way to start your day.  Try it.

Anyone can be learn to be mindful.
We should take lessons from children about mindfulness.
They live moment-by-moment as they learn about the world.

The simple fact is to get in the habit of paying attention!

You can pop into mindful wherever you are.

  • When you experience a moment of pure joy-you are mindful.
  • When you achieve a peak physical experience-you are in the moment.
  • When you notice a leaf falling from a tree-you are paying attention.
  • When you pet the dog you are full of wonder-you are fully present.

You can't find mindfulness in a box from the store,

or in more of anything and everything.

It is inside you,
waiting to lead you to...
Greater joy.
More laughter.
A real sense of connection.
Peace.

Use it everyday.
Use it everywhere.
It's easy.
It's fun.
It's free.
And it works.

Pay attention.
Be in the moment.
Be present.

To Be Better

Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world.
Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.
-Rumi

Do you watch the news?
Lots of things in this world don't make sense.
If the news reports are to be believed there is only poverty, greed, injustice, abuse, hunger and many other newsworthy subjects.

We absorb the negativity until we are afraid of what will happen next.
We complain and blame.

Is there any hope?  Yes!

You don't have to turn off the TV, bury your head in the sand or be in denial.
But change starts with us.

The answer is simple but not easy.

Be a better person.

Perform acts of kindness for family, friends, strangers, maybe anyone.....everyone.

What is an act of kindness?
-Act (verb) do something
       (noun) a thing done
-Kindness (noun) being friendly, generous, and considerate

Do something considerate or friendly, give someone a compliment, offer help.

Ask yourself:
How can I use my strengths in service to others?
What weakness can I work on to change my life?

Be the best version of you.

Create solutions to the problems you see,
in your small little world,
and the whole wide world too.

Maybe we will see YOU on the news.

  • Smile at each person you see.
  • Share kind words, a lot.
  • Ask yourself, Am I being kind?
  • Hug someone.
  • Create ripples of happiness.
  • And pass it on.  And on....and on.

We all have a path we use for our journey...but we must share that path with others.

Today, I am impacted by the loving memory of Jack Pinto, age 6, who was a student at Sandy Hook Elementary School.  His birthday was on May 6, he would have been 7.  He was an avid football fan who loved the New York Giants and was a talented wrestler.  We must not forget him or the others that lost their lives and their chance to change the world....to be better.

My mission is to spread happiness, changing the world, making a difference, one person at a time.

Maybe
YOU
are the solution,
have the answer,
the cure,
the big idea!
