Oklahoma Tornado

Monster tornado.
Devastation.
Lives ended.
Homes destroyed.
Fear.
Sadness.

How do we keep going, again?
What can we do to erase the heart-wrenching images from our minds?
How can we help?

Many relief organizations, are setting up shelters, soliciting donations and suggest giving blood.
Red Cross
Salvation Army
United Way
Feeding America
Operation USA
Oklahoma Baptist Diaster Relief

You can google for specific information if your heart is willing and it is affordable.

Volunteers will be coming to help.  They will cook food, look through debris, patch a window or soothe a broken heart.  Some are repaying a kindness that was shown to them and some just can't stand by and do nothing.

Being on the front line is necessary but what can others do?

Organize a fundraiser.
Gather supplies.
Start a book drive.
Host a special prayer service.

When the disaster, chaos and crisis recedes from the front page news and top story of the the hour on TV stations, Oklahoma will still need our help.

We can be spiritual care providers.
We can send strength and hope in these difficult times.

Oklahoma will never be the same.
Over time there will be a "new normal".
We cannot control nature or the devastation but we can control our response.

Every day we take many things for granted...electricity, running water, police or medical services, grocery stores, food and water just to name a few.  Now many in Oklahoma are without these basic life necessities.
We can count our blessings, say thank you, be grateful,
and stop whining about not so important details.

Oklahoma affects all of us.
We must reach out and help however we can.
Be strong Oklahoma.

"In helping others, we shall help ourselves, for whatever mood we give out completes the circle and comes back to us." -Flora Edwards
