Mindfulness

Time flies whether or not you are having fun.
-Abraham Lincoln

Do you feel like time is flying by?

Maybe it is because you are having fun!
But maybe it means you are filling your days with busyness and not living mindfully.

When we live a mindful life we are more likely to do the right things, make thoughtful decisions and feel good.
Being mindful reduces stress and improves well being.
We become more patient, more compassionate, and more thoughtful.
It makes us healthier and happier.

So how can we live mindfully so we can live a healthy and happy life?

What is mindfulness?
Mindfulness is a mental state.
It is being in the present moment and accepting that moment for what it is,
not looking back or forward-NOW!

You can be mindful while eating to savor the deliciousness,
or while walking, listening to your heartbeat.

Use mindfulness when you wake in the morning.  Start by just slowly turning your mouth up into a smile.  Notice how your lips feel.  Does the smile change your eyes, your cheeks, ears?  This is an amazing way to start your day.  Try it.

Anyone can be learn to be mindful.
We should take lessons from children about mindfulness.
They live moment-by-moment as they learn about the world.

The simple fact is to get in the habit of paying attention!

You can pop into mindful wherever you are.

  • When you experience a moment of pure joy-you are mindful.
  • When you achieve a peak physical experience-you are in the moment.
  • When you notice a leaf falling from a tree-you are paying attention.
  • When you pet the dog you are full of wonder-you are fully present.

You can't find mindfulness in a box from the store,

or in more of anything and everything.

It is inside you,
waiting to lead you to...
Greater joy.
More laughter.
A real sense of connection.
Peace.

Use it everyday.
Use it everywhere.
It's easy.
It's fun.
It's free.
And it works.

Pay attention.
Be in the moment.
Be present.
